2014 SCION FR-S: Scion’s exciting rear-wheel drive sports coupe, the FR-S, is the brand's new halo car, expanding the lineup into a new dimension of driving performance. The letters 'FR-S' are efined as standing for Front-engine (F), Rear-wheel drive (R), and Sport (S). While at the Chicago Auto Show, make sure to see the limited-edition Scion 10 Series FR-S that comes with dual auto A/C, HID headlights, LED DRL accent lighting, 17-inch standard wheels, a frameless rearview mirror, a dashboard electroluminescent panel, front and rear locator badges, a solar-powered illuminated shift knob (only available on the automatic transmission model) and a Scion carpet mat in the cargo area. Pop the hood, and examine the 2.0-liter, naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine that is the result of a joint development between Toyota and Subaru. The flat-four creates a 12.5:1 compression ratio, as well as an impressive 200 horsepower and mated to either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The compact FR-S's low weight (2,758 with manual to 2,806 pounds with automatic) is complimented by a dynamically tuned suspension setup. The fierce exterior of the FR-S is remarkably sleek and low, with a menacing face, aggressive sporty dual exhaust system and LEDs illuminate the edgy taillights. Opening the door reveals a low and comfortable 2+2 passenger cockpit, displaying a large center-mounted tachometer, the focus of the three-gauge cluster.
