2014 NISSAN SENTRA: At last year’s Chicago Auto Show, the all-new seventh-generation Nissan Sentra was a popular exhibit due to the most revolutionary design in the nameplate’s 30 year history. For 2014 model year, the Sentra receives modest enhancements that include revised CVT (continuously variable transmission), revised steering and suspension tuning, a new sliding front armrest, new front seat lower cushion storage pockets and updated NissanConnect with navigation, smartphone integraton for iPhone and Androis, improved voice recognition and one-shot destination entry. Design elements include front LED and rear LED lighting, and a lowered beltline with character line that runs from the front fenders, along the sides, and finishes at the sculpted taillights and trunklid. The exterior presents a more aggressive stance and enhanced outward visibility for passengers, with a strong family resemblance to the larger Nissan Altima. Built on a new platform, the front-wheel drive ’14 Sentra is 150 pounds lighter and more aerodynamic, which allows Nissan to use a more fuel-efficient 130 horsepower 1.8 liter engine. Along with the CVT, a six-speed manual is offered in the base Sentra S model. Standard 16 inch steel wheels with full covers can be replaced by 17-inch split seven-spoke aluminum-alloy rims. Other exterior features include chrome door handles and accents, available heated outside mirrors with integrated turn signals, and available sport front and rear fascias and rear spoiler. The five passenger cabin comes with a standard 60/40 split folding design, offering versatile access to the 15.1 cubic feet of trunk space. Popular accessories include available Bose Premium audio system with eight speakers, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, Nissan Intelligent key with push button ignition and Maple wood-tone trim.
