2014 MAZDA CX-9: Unmistakably Mazda, the 2014 CX-9 is the largest vehicle in the lineup, available in three trim levels – Sport, Touring and Grand Touring. Product upgrades for the 2014 model year for the seven-passenger, three-row mid-size sport utility vehicle include new color options, a new 20-inch wheel design and the availability of Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). Each CX-9 comes equipped with a 3.7 liter V-6 engine that produces 273 horsepower. When combined with the stock six-speed Sport AT automatic transmission (with a manual mode), the powertrain offers up to 3,500 pound towing capacity. Consumers have a choice between standard front-wheel and optional all-wheel drive configurations. Visually, the sleek CX-9 continues Mazda's KODO "Soul of Motion" design cues that starts with the slight snarl of the five-point front grille with chrome trim that flows up into the eagle-eyed headlights. The steeply raked windshield compliments the brawny fender arches, and the CX-9 rolls on standard 18-inch and optional 20-inch aluminum alloy wheels wrapped in all-season tires. Spacious cabin provides a respectable 17.2 cubic feet of cargo room even with middle and third row occupants, and when both rows are fold flat, there is up to 100.7 cu. ft. of storage space from the lift gate and up toward the back of the front seats. Buyers have their choice from six exterior shades including two new colors: Jet Black and Blue Reflex. Standard in Touring and Grand Touring models is a Blind Spot Monitoring system, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and a rearview camera. Rear backup sensors also are standard for both trim levels. An available package offers a premium Bose 10-speaker surround sound system, a TomTom-based in-dash navigation system with real-time traffic, a power lift gate, keyless entry/start system, a moonroof and fog lights.
