2014 MAZDA CX-5: A big hit for Mazda at last year’s Chicago Auto Show was the premiere of the new Mazda CX-5 compact crossover SUV, and, the excitment continues at the 2014 show. With its class-leading fuel economy, head-turning design and better-than-the-rest handling, the 2014 CX-5 is offered in CX-5 Sport, Touring and Grand Touring trim levels. All models are available in front-wheel or active torque-split all-wheel drive configurations. As the first production Mazda to fully incorporate a soul of motion, CX-5 wears a sculptured body with shapely front and rear fenders that hug the 17- and 19-inch rubber-and-rim pairings. For 2014, a new SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter gasoline engine is standard on the Touring and Grand Touring models. The 2.5L develops 184 horsepower and contains race-car high 13:1 compression ratio, uniquely crafted 4-2-1 exhaust system, and paired with a SKYACTIV-Drive six-speed automatic transmission. Standard on the CX-5 Sport is the 2.0L that delivers 155hp and can be linked to SKYACTIV-MT six-speed manual gearbox, six-speed automatic or six-speed automatic with manual mode. The CX-5 has a 2,000-pound towing capacity, and offers 26 city/35 highway/29 combined mpg - the highest highway fuel economy rating of any SUV in North America, including hybrids. Push-button start also is standard on all models, making CX-5 the only non-luxury compact SUV to offer this premium feature. Options include the in-dash TomTom navigation system, an auto-dimming mirror with Homelink, automatic on/off bi-xenon auto-leveling headlights, a pivoting Adaptive Front-lighting System, keyless entry and Smart City Brake Support. Long and luxury-laced, the CX-5 sits on a segment-leading 106.3-inch wheelbase, seats five and offers a cabin that is undeniably flexible in order to accommodate up to 65.4 cu. ft. of family gear when second row seats are folded. There are seven exterior colors, including optional Crystal White Pearl paint.
