2014 JEEP COMPASS: Built at the Belvidere Assembly Plant in Belvidere, IL, the 2014 Jeep Compass has been refined with halogen headlamps and Billet silver grille texture. The Compass also features painted mirror caps, taillamps with a new “smoked” inner bezel, a plated chrome insert on the tailgate trim applique, new available 18-inch aluminum wheels and rear backup camera. The ‘14 Jeep Compass can be ordered in three package levels: Sport, Latitude and Limited. All are available with front-wheel drive, the Freedom Drive I full-time active 4x4 system, or the Freedom Drive II Off-road full-time active 4x4 system with low-range capability. Standard powerplant for the Sport and Latitude models is a 2.0-liter World Engine that provides 158 horsepower. It features a five-speed manual transaxle on the Compass Sport, and the new six-speed automatic transmission on the Latitude and Limited models. Available on all models and standard on the Limited is the 2.4-liter I-4 World Gas Engine, producing 172hp. The Jeep Compass provides up to 62.7 cu. ft of cargo room when front passenger and rear seats are down. When properly equipped, the '14 Jeep Compass can provide up to 2,000 lb towing capacity. For peace of mind, the Compass comes standard with electronic stability control, electronic roll mitigation, hill-start assist and side-curtain air bags that cover all rows. A total of 11 exterior colors are offered, including shades called Deep Cherry Red Crystal Pearl Coat and Rugged Brown Pearl Coat.Chicago Auto Show Fact: The Jeep Compass appeared as a concept at the 2002 Chicago Auto Show, and went into production in August 2006.
