2014 FORD EXPLORER SPORT: Ford’s first high-performance production Explorer, the Explorer Sport returns for 2014 with minor refinements. As a full-size SUV, the Explorer Sport delivers a muscular 365 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque from its 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine. The performance feel is heightened by paddle shifters that precisely control the six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. The Terrain Management System adjusts on the fly, tailoring power to all four wheels for enhanced dynamics on and off the pavement. A second-row console is now available. This model wears a unique grille featuring low-gloss Sterling Gray mesh with contrasting Ebony high-gloss bars, the 20-inch painted and machined wheels, blacked-out head and taillight treatments. Explorer Sport's interior adds two-tone leather-trimmed seating, available for five or seven-passenger transportation. Depending on your needs, there is 21.0 cu. ft. in back of the third row seating, a decent 43.8 cu. ft. behind middle row, and a spacious 80.7 cu. ft. behind first row when third and middle seatbacks down. Travelers will enjoy the latest-generation SYNC system with MyFord Touch features Wi-Fi capability, text-to-voice, and HD Radio with iTunes tagging. Other technological wonders are the MyKey programmable vehicle for parental controls, a hill start assist system and a curve control, which can slow the vehicle by up to 10 mph if it senses a curve is being taken too fast. The '14 Explorer Sport is manufactured with great pride at Ford's Chicago production facility.
