2014 FORD EDGE: Available with three engines in four series, including a Sport offering, the 2014 Ford Edge is a versatile midsize crossover that delivers power and technology in a wide range of choices. Edge is offered in front-wheel or all-wheel drive configurations, and the standard powerplant is the 3.5 liter V-6 that produces 285 horsepower. The Edge Sport comes with a 305hp 3.7L V-6, while the optional 2.0L EcoBoost four-cylinder engine rated at 240 hp is available on the Edge SE, SEL and Limited models. Each engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, some with paddle activation, and the towing capacities ranges from 2000-3500 pounds. Exclusive to the EcoBoost models are side door rocker moldings and active grille shutters. A power liftgate with spoiler is available on Edge SEL, and new appearance package includes unique interior trim and 20-inch machined aluminum wheels. To further improve the quietness in the five-passenger interior, expandable foam baffles are used in the fenders and D-pillars while a thicker windshield with acoustic laminated glass helps decrease wind noise. With rear seats down, the Edge offers 68.9 cu. ft. of cargo room. New colors available for 2014 include Sunset Metallic, Oxford White and Ingot Silver (Edge Sport). Chicago Auto Show Fact: During Media Preview days at the 2010 Chicago Auto Show, Jim Farley, Group Vice President of Ford Global Marketing, debuted the all-new 2011 Edge Sport, a high-performance version of the mid-size crossover.
