2014 CADILLAC ELR: Returning to the Chicago Auto Show is the 2014 Cadillac ELR, which was a major attraction in the Cadillac exhibit last year. It's the first application of an extended-range electric vehicle technology by a full-line luxury automotive brand. The Cadillac ELR has an aggressive, forward-leaning profile that introduces a new, progressive theme and proportion in Cadillac's design evolution. It carries over almost unchanged from the Converj concept that was a hit at the 2009 Chicago show. The overall shape is reinforced by a prominent, sweeping body line accented by 20-inch wheels pushed to the edges of the body. Light-emitting diode (LED) headlamps, daytime running lamps and taillamps, as well as signature front and rear lighting elements. Inside, the ELR's classic 2+2 layout is a driver focused and fitted with leather-trimmed cockpit that blends authentic chrome and wood accents - and available carbon fiber trim. Additionally, a sueded microfiber headliner and steering wheel covered in leather and sueded microfiber. True engineering marvels power the ELR, combining pure electric drive and an efficient, range-extending 1.4L gasoline-powered electric generator capable of 207 horsepower of total system power. Using only the energy stored in the battery, the ELR delivers a range of about 35 miles of pure electric driving. Standard premium Bose 10-channel audio system with active noise cancellation. ELR production begins in the United States in late 2013 with sales starting by the time of the 2014 Chicago show in North America and expanding to global markets including China and Europe.
