2014 BENTLEY CONTINENTAL GTC: Representing a new pinnacle for the marque, the Bentley Continental GTC 2+2 convertible offers a seductive combination of performance, style and exclusivity. It follows a celebrated tradition, as Bentley has been making iconic open tourers for over ninety years. This year, on display in the Comcast Business Garage at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show, the Continental GTC has sophisticated all-wheel drive system, state-of-the-art 616 horsepower, W12 twin-turbocharged 6-litre engine, advanced air suspension and ultra-stiff body structure. Unique seven-bow, three-layer, soft fabric roof with heated glass rear screen operates electro-hydraulically and provides peerless acoustic damping and exceptional refinement during use. When the roof is up, the GTC can reach a remarkable 202mph, or 195mph with the top lowered. Tipping the scales at 5260 lbs, the GTC still rockets from 0-to-62 mph in 4.1 seconds. The impressive power of the W12 engine is sent to all four wheels, with a 60:40 rear power delivery bias for optimum handling. As a result, it is not simply one of the fastest convertibles in the world but also one of the most confidence-inspiring, delivering exceptional grip and control. For the Continental GTC’s cockpit, Bentley’s interior design team has created a cocoon of curved yet crisply-defined planes and surfaces. The supportive ‘cobra’ style seats give the cockpit a spacious ambiance and their slim line design offers easy access to the rear seats. All leather surfaces are soft-touch, yet seams and edges are precisely defined. Instrument graphics are elegant and clear; the cabin architecture has a lithe, inviting feel. These are the hallmarks of a true Bentley grand tourer. The GTC model on display has a $255,000 sticker price.
