2014 AUDI R8: For the 2014 model year, the Audi R8 has been further optimized and is now more dynamic than ever. The R8 is the pinnacle of the Audi model lineup that comprises of three different engine variants: the R8 V8, the R8 V10 and the R8 V10 Plus. Audi’s 4.2-liter V8 generates 430 horsepower, while the 5.3L V-10 pumps out 525 horses or 550hp on the V10 Plus model. Numerous improvements for 2014 include a newly developed seven-speed S tronic transmission. Equipped with the available S tronic, the V10 Plus easily catapults from zero to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 196 mph. The 2014 R8 features a revised exterior with standard full LED headlights, round dual-outlet exhaust, and high-gloss Singleframe grille. It includes ceramic brakes, carbon fiber side blades, front splitter, rear diffuser, and spoiler; a smaller fuel tank; manual Alcantara seats and reduced sound insulation in the engine bay. The interior now features controls in high-gloss black, an available flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel, and available diamond-stitched leather seats and inserts. Besides quattro permanent all-wheel-drive, the R8 comes with an aluminum body and Audi’s space frame made popular years ago on the A8. Behind the doors, a large “sideblade” air deflector sweeps between the wheel arch and the roof section, and delivers air for the engine to breathe as well as for cooling. An automatically extending rear spoiler is deployed to assist the R8 by using the wind.
