2014 ASTON MARTIN VANTAGE S: Starting with the V8 Vantage, Aston Martin took the iconic model up a level with the release of the V8 Vantage S. Featuring race-winning aerodynamics honed in GT4 racing, you could describe the Vantage S as, “From road to race, and back.” Ideally proportioned, compact and close to the ground, the long low hood line and sweeping side profile of the V8 Vantage S presents balance between beauty and sporting intent. An advanced aluminum structure sits at the heart of every Aston Martin. This ‘VH’ platform is uniquely tailored for Vantage S to offer the rigidity and agility required of such a dynamic sports car. The front mid-mounted 4.7-liter engine produces 430 horsepower and 361 lb. ft. of torque to the rear wheels. Assembled by hand, the “S” engine becomes the most potent V-8 unit in Aston Martins’s history. The powerplant is mated to an all-new seven-speed ‘Sportshift II’ paddle-operated automated manual transmission and short final-drive ratio delivering exceptional in-gear acceleration. A 0-to-60 mph sprint time is a mere 4.3 seconds; with a governed maximum top speed of 190 mph, and an EPA gas mileage at 14 mpg city/21 mpg highway. Check out the glass “Sport” button that switch quickens the gear changes and a more aggressive throttle response while opening exhaust bypass valves across most of the engine speed range. A custom exhaust muffler and bypass valve map combine to create a distinctive and highly vocal exhaust sound. With high-performance numbers, sporting suspension setting, a superbly responsive steering rack and wide tires, the two-seat Vantage S is the benchmark sports car.
