Inside, designers incorporated luxurious bench seating, and crafted from luxurious, chromium-free leather and filled with soy foam The instrument panel was leather-wrapped, and a light, gray wood veneer formed a symmetrical shape that surrounded the center-mounted touch screen.
Unlike any previous Lincoln concept before, the Lincoln C reinvents the automobile as a customer’s companion in life on and off the road. The prototype is powered by a sophisticated human machine interface (HMI) and forward-thinking in-car connectivity technologies. All car-related information appears to the left of the speedometer, including fuel economy, trip information and vehicle diagnostics. With a touch of nostalgia, Mazda displayed a legendary concept along with its new car exhibit during the 2009 Chicago Auto Show. The Miata M Speedster was the raciest MX-5-derived concept built to date when originally unveiled at the 1994 Monterey Historic Races at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. Key design and engineering cues included a low-cut, pillar-less windshield, modified suspension and lowered ride height, modified rear wing and spoiler, sculpted rockers, and flared fenders. Large fog lights were integrated into the front fascia. Sculpted, hard tonneau-style headrests, with storage for two body-colored racing helmets, completed the exterior design. Modifications included upgraded brakes, 15-in. wheels and a supercharger that boosts power to over 200 h.p.
Mitsubishi Motors has chosen to center its development of next-generation electric vehicle technology on in-wheel motors and on lithium-ion batteries that the company has been working on for several years. Dubbed Mitsubishi In-wheel motor Electric Vehicle (MIEV) concept, it’s envisioned for hybrid and fuel cell vehicles. The permanent magnet synchronous motor has a maximum output of 64 h.p., and 133 lb-ft of torque. With seating for four, the concept weights 2,376 lbs., has a maximum speed of 84 mph., and charging time that arranges from 30 minutes up to 13 hrs, depending on 110 or 220 volt set-up.
Three-quarter rear view of the Saab 9-X Convertible Concept on exhibit at the 2009 Chicago Auto Show. Unlike any other convertible, this prototype had the revolutionary 'Canopy Top' that only covered the upper section of the roof. The rear of the car, with its prominent buttresses, created a targa-like look for an open four- seater. Biofueled, turbocharged and electronically powered, the front-wheel drive Saab 9-X prototype was more responsible via its optimized Verified Sustainable E85 bioethanol fuel. Pairing the right-sized BioPower engine with an electric hybrid drive system, which included regenerative braking, further reduced consumption. The 200 h.p. transversely-mounted engine was mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.

Saturn hints at future transportation that’s both clean and stunning with the electric-drive Flextreme concept. Featuring General Motors’ E-Flex electric propulsion technology, Flextreme can provide 34 miles of all-electric, emissions-free range. The battery can be recharged at a household outlet in just three hours. On the road, an efficient 1.3 liter turbo-diesel onboard engine generates additional electricity to replenish the battery and extend the vehicle’s driving range. The rear doors are another key distinguishing feature of the Flextreme. While the front doors open in the conventional manner, the rear doors are rear-hinged. And as there is no center roof pillar (B-pillar), opening both doors on one side creates a large opening for easy entry. Special light alloy wheels look like conventional wheels, yet are designed to avoid energy-robbing air turbulence.
