At the show in 1923, the Textile Product Co.sponsored a custom Packard (bottom) with an all-fabric body replacing metal panels over a wood frame. Wire fastened with staples, a layer of cotton wadding between the wire and stiff burlap called buckram, and a final layer of fabric material replaced the metal.
Newspaper advertisement for the 1923 Davis stated that the latest model would be “the talk of the show.” In the copy, Walter C. Davis predicted that 1923 would be the best year for his automobile company, following seven months of record-smashing sales. "Look the car over carefully at the Chicago show, its easy on the eyes.” Introduced in 1919, the Gardner was a popular brand during the 1920s. Manufactured in St. Louis, the Gardner Motor Co. built automobiles through 1931.
