'Saturday Morning Special' Offers the Ultimate Insider Peek
Sunday, February 13, 2011
What does everyone want at any major event? To know the scoop. To have the inside line. To be a part of the things that go on behind the scenes. But what about the Chicago Auto Show? How could someone from the outside get early access and an insider’s tour from an ultra-insider?
Well, that’s been an impossible ticket to get--until now.
Before the doors of the nation’s biggest auto show open to the public on Saturday, Feb. 19, a small group of automotive insiders will get access to what goes on "behind the curtain" by attending the "Saturday Morning Special." The experience will include a remote WLS AM890 radio broadcast from the floor, personal tours conducted by a group of the area’s foremost automotive authorities, special commemorative tickets and more.
"We’ve had many inquiries over the years asking how a special early access ticket might be obtained," said auto show General Manager Dave Sloan. "So with the cooperation of WLS AM890 Radio, Audi and a group of automotive experts, we are able this year to accommodate those requests, but we’ll have to limit it to the first 150 takers."
Those wishing to purchase the special $25 commemorative ticket will attend a remote broadcast of the award-winning "Drive Chicago" program on WLS AM890 from 8-9 a.m. originating from the popular Audi display at the show and hosted by Paul Brian. Joining Brian will be a "who’s who" of Chicago’s motor journalists, including Cars.com’s Joe Wiesenfelder, Consumer Guide’s Tom Appel and "Drive, She Said’s" Jill Ciminillo. Also taking tour leader duties will be the Chicago Auto Show’s Internet director and columnist, Mark Bilek.
"This is a fun, informed group of insiders who eat, sleep and breathe cars," said Sloan. "The ‘Saturday Morning Special’ will provide not only a memorable way to see the show and jumpstart your weekend visit to McCormick Place, but also a great way to get first dibs on parking."
