FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TOYOTA REVEALS THE TACOMA TRD PRO AND RAV4 SE RALLY DURING THE 2016 CHICAGO AUTO SHOW

CHICAGO (February 11, 2016) - Toyota introduced the all-new 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro during the Media Preview of the 2016 Chicago Auto show. The new Tacoma TRD Pro was designed for the extreme off-roading enthusiasts and is the most adventurous TRD production model offered so far.

"I didn't think the new Tacoma could get any tougher, but the TRD Pro takes it to a whole new level," said Bill Fay, group vice president and general manager of Toyota. "The TRD Pro is equipped with one of the most high performance off-road suspension systems ever to be offered on a production vehicle."

The Tacoma TRD Pro is complete with a full set of factory-installed off-road equipment designed by the engineers at Toyota Racing Development. The pickup is powered with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that can be paired with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.

Notable special exhaust and suspension enhancements include: TRD-tuned FOX 2.5 Internal Bypass shocks; TRD-tuned front springs with a one-inch lift; and a TRD-tuned rear suspension with progressive-rate off-road leaf spring.

Additionally, buyers will have three colors to choose from as well as the choice of a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic.
The Tacoma TRD Pro is expected to go on sale sometime this fall. Pricing of the vehicle has not yet been released.

Additionally, Toyota unveiled the RAV4 SE Rally, a vehicle inspired by the Millen family of racing legends that is refreshed for the 2016 model year. Toyota has not made any powertrain modifications, as the rally car is powered by a stock RAV4 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 176 hp and 172 lb.-ft. of torque. The crossover was built to compete in the 2WD-Open Class so it is fitted with a six-speed automatic transmission that spins the front wheels only.

Toyota said the minor modifications are safety, communications and convenience related including a stout roll cage, driver/navigator communication system, air vents and helmet boxes.
