MIDWEST EVOLVE ANNOUNCES THREE-YEAR EDUCATIONAL CAMPAIGN AIMED AT PROMOTING BENEFITS OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES

CHICAGO (Feb. 9, 2017) - Midwest EVOLVE, a consumer EV education campaign, today announced a seven-state educational program aimed at increasing consumer adoption rates of electric vehicles across the Midwest.

Representatives from Midwest EVOLVE (Electric Vehicle Opportunities: Learning, eVents, Experience), a collaboration between the American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest, eight Clean Cities coalitions across seven states and three major automotive manufacturers, gathered to discuss the far-reaching environmental and performance benefits of electric vehicles.

"Electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular, due to better batteries, decreased cost, increased options and the rollout of charging infrastructure," said Lew Bartfield, president and CEO of the American Lung Association of the Upper Midwest. "These advanced, modern vehicles reduce emissions that contribute to climate change and smog, improving air quality and public health."

Bartfield, surrounded by automotive executives from Ford, General Motors and Nissan, said the Midwest is often overlooked as a market for electric vehicles, and a comprehensive approach to training is needed to reintroduce Midwest consumers to the electric vehicle.

Midwest EVOLVE programming will target the general public, fleet managers and dealership personnel, offering these customers hands-on experiences that will grow their knowledge and awareness of the multiple benefits of electric vehicle ownership.
