Need a story about the Chicago Auto Show? - There's plenty from which to choose!

In both hard news and feature news, finding the right angle, the right lead or the right editorial piece can be tricky.  Since the Chicago Auto Show has a lot to offer consumers, we want to make sure that you know it has a lot of editorial content ideas to offer as well.  We thought we'd lend a hand and share a few story ideas and news angles we've come up with as idea starters to get the wheels turning.

The Chicago Auto Show is such a popular and well-loved event in Chicago, it would be a shame to miss out on the opportunity to catch the eye of an auto enthusiasts or show visitors as they choose which news to give their attention to.

Here are some things that we think might spark interest for your audiences:

The Chicago Auto Show has five "Ride and Drive" test tracks experiences-indoors!  This is both really fun for the consumer and very exciting for us as we are the first auto show to offer so many. Few other venues anywhere in the world have the capacity or ability to offer their exhibitors the option of producing much more than a static display.  Remember, it's not just the five minutes in the vehicle that's important. It's the entire time that the show goer is in the display, how they're marketed, and how they're cultivated after the ride. In addition to great fun, it's kicked-up marketing that other shows just can't offer.

First Look for Charity has live entertainment this year. Quite a bit of it, actually.  The event will feature performances by KC and the Sunshine Band who (apart from being a hugely popular show band) tied The Beatles' record of having four #1 hits in a 12-month period! So they've got that goin' for them-and lots of fun for those who come to see them at the show's black-tie preview Feb. 10.  But McCormick Place is a big venue, so additionally, patrons will be able to enjoy blues-rock phenoms, the North Mississippi Allstars, and jazz trumpet star Rick Braun.   For a full look at the night's activities, please visit http://www.chicagoautoshow.com/first_look/first_look_entertainment.aspx.

Ours is the first show to create a media preview day specifically for new and social media.  Why is that important? Because everyone is tweeting, Facebooking and blogging. We want to make sure that as news trends toward a digital age, we embrace them. It's going to be an experiment where social media, PR and marketing all come together at the nation's biggest auto show. What will happen when those who influence others get unfettered access to a giant content generator? We'll see! By the way, make sure you sign up for Twitter (@ChiAutoShow) and click the "like" icon at the www.facebook.com/ChicagoAutoShow Official Facebook Fan Page. It's great for up-to-the-minute information on appearance dates and times, special promotions and contests.

Perhaps second only to the big electronics show, the Chicago Auto Show is 40 feet deep in cutting-edge high technology. The amount of high-tech that's built into vehicles today is astounding. It's the kind of "Gizmonics" that the average person wants and shells out cash for-all wrapped up in shiny sheet metal. It's the automotive combination of fun, useful and helpful!  See it all on the show floor in all of our manufacturer displays, and visit http://www.chicagoautoshow.com/vehicles_on_display/default.aspx for more information.

We have an all-new Web site. www.ChicagoAutoShow.com has everything from basic show information about tickets, parking, hours, mass transportation, history and vehicles on display, to a photo gallery of new and old cars that's second to none.  It's fresh-looking, interactive, intuitive and informative.

It's an awesome date! The auto show has been the genesis of more marriages than all dating sites combined. How do we measure that? Actually, we're just speculating, but it's remained a great "first date" site for generations.  The show is also a great Valentine's Day date. Who needs big deal factory chocolates when your sweetie can score you a box of auto show fudge? Nowhere is the chocolate any better!
