New Cermak-McCormick Place Green Line Station Makes Debut Ahead of Cars and in Time For 2015 Chicago Auto Show

This year’s Chicago Auto Show attendees can take advantage of riding public transportation to and from McCormick Place, with the opening of the new Cermak-McCormick Place Green Line Station.

The new station, which opened Monday, Feb. 9, is the first to serve McCormick Place in nearly 40 years as the prior station was demolished in 1977.  The wheelchair-accessible station, equipped with two elevators from the street to the platform, can be accessed on both sides of Cermak at State Street and an additional entrance a long city block to the south, on 23rd Street, to provide a link for people going to McCormick Place.

“We are thrilled that Auto Show attendees will now have the opportunity to use public transportation for direct access to McCormick Place,” said Dave Sloan, Chicago Auto Show general manager. “More accessible public transportation to McCormick Place helps us manage the size of our audience.”

The new station will be open at all times that the Green Line is in operation.
