2013 MERCEDES-BENZ S-CLASS: On review during the nine-day run of the 105th Chicago Auto Show, the 2013 Mercedes-Benz is recognized as one of the finest automobiles available in the world. The S-Class continues into model year 2013 virtually identical last years edition. Why mess with success? Debuting last year, the S350 BlueTEC features a fuel-sipping 3.0 liter V-6 turbodiesel that delivers 240 horsepower and comes with standard 4MATIC all-wheel drive. In addition, the S550 features a 4.6L twin turbo direct-injection V-8 that increases the rating to 429hp. The ''13 line-up also includes an innovative S400 Hybrid generating 295hp. In contrast, the high-performance V-8 in the S63 AMG releases 536hp and 590 lb.-ft of torque. And then there are a pair of magnificent V-12 powered cars - the S600 (510 hp, 612 lb.-ft.) and the S65 AMG (621 hp, 738 lb.-ft.). Most '13 S-Class models are equipped with the more fuel efficient seven-speed automatic transmission, and all levels provide four-door convenience, five-passenger cabin space and a tailored 16.4 cu. ft. trunk compartment. Models equipped with the optional radar-based Distronic Plus Plus system reap the benefit of another revolutionary Mercedes-Benz safety feature - Pre-Safe Brake. Also available is the SplitView dual-content viewing screen, an active lane keeping assist and active blind spot assist with automatic brake intervention and nightview assist plus with pedestrian detection.
