2014 PORSCHE CAYMAN: Sports car buffs, it’s not hard to spot the completely redeveloped 2014 Cayman on displayed in the Porsche exhibit during the 2013 Chicago Auto Show – it’s finished in ‘Racing Yellow’ paint. This is the third generation of the mid-engined, rear-wheel drive two-seater, with prominent new body lines and proportions; 2.4-inch longer wheelbase, new chassis and up to 60 pounds lighter than previous editions. The ’13 Cayman comes standard-equipped with the 2.7 liter flat-six cylinder engine that creates 275 horsepower. For thrill-seekers, the Cayman S provides drivers with a 3.4L six cylinder generating 325hp that easily clocks 0-to-60 mph in 4.4 seconds, and a top track speed of 174 mph. Both engines can be mated to a selection of either the six-speed manual or seven-speed Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) (automatic) gearbox. The optional Sport Chrono PDK transmission offers Sport Plus button and dynamic transmission mounts for the most rapid launches from rest. To match the higher performance limits of the ’13 Cayman, the ceramic composite brake system with calipers painted yellow remains available. Brand new this year are optional Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), which controls vehicle distance and speed in traffic. Offered for the first time in the Cayman, is Porsche Entry & Drive that enables keyless control of locks and engine starting. Optional bi-color leather packages lend an exclusive, upscale ambiance to the Cayman’s interior. Lime gold, pebble gray, or amber leather may be combined with the agate gray leather to striking effect.
