2013 HYUNDAI ELANTRA SEDAN: Designed at Hyundai's North American Design Center in Irvine, Calif, the stylish 2013 Hyundai Elantra Sedan comes in GLS and Limited trim levels. Under the hood, both model packages come with an all-new 148 horsepower 1.8 liter Nu four-cylinder engine that can be ordered with the hi-tech six-speed manual gearbox or new in-house six-speed automatic transaxle with Shiftronic manual control. If you check the specifications, Elantra leads in weight efficiency and power-to-weight ration when stacked up against six major competitors. For shoppers, the Elantra GLS with manual gearbox is fitted with standard air-conditioning, cruise control, telescopic steering wheel and solar glass with windshield shade band. Heated front seats are also now included on the high volume GLS automatic transmission Preferred Package. Elantra's five passenger cabin is so roomy the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) classifies it as a mid-size car, not a compact car. An example is the long seat track, delivering best-in-class front seat legroom. Elantra is available with two audio systems. Standard is a 172-watt AM/FM/satellite radio/CD/MP3 audio system with six-speakers and iPod/USB/auxiliary input jacks. A 360-watt system with external amplifier is optional. Elantra's trunk volume at 14.8 cubic feet also beats most competitors. An additional 2013 highlight is mellow Atlantic Blue to the color palette. Hyundai's emotional "Fluidic Sculpture" design principles demand an assertive stance, flowing lines, sleek roofline and muscular wheel arches. Filling the wheel wells are 16- or 17-inch rims and tires, and available fog lights and side mirrors with integrated turn signals complete the distinct design.
