2013 MERCEDES-BENZ GL63 AMG: Appearing for the first time at the Chicago Auto Show is the high-performance 2013 Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG sport utility. It's the latest model to join the GL-Class line of full-size sport utilities family, and is produced at the plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Visually, the GL 63 AMG is fitted with flared fenders and 21-inch AMG alloy wheels shod with tires that are nearly 12 inches wide. There's a special front apron that features large air intakes and a border of LED daytime running lights. Aluminum-finish running boards under the doors are illuminated, and the rear fender flares blend into an AMG rear apron which incorporates matte silver chrome trim and two pairs of sport exhaust outlets. Matching the brawny appearance, the GL 63 AMG features a 5.5-liter biturbo V-8 that delivers a whopping 550 horsepower. With an AMG Speedshift Plus 7G-Tronic transmission, this SUV can sprint from 0-60 miles per hour in 4.8 seconds and reach a raised top speed of 174mph. When properly fitted, the GL63 can tow up to 7,500 pounds. A special transfer case for the 4Matic full-time four-wheel-drive system distributes engine power 40:60 to the front and rear wheels. Standard equipment includes a driver assistance package, panorama roof, designer interior and surround view camera. This crossover can transport seven adults in comfort, or when the middle row and rear seat back are folded flat, creates an enormous 93.8 cubic feet of cargo space.
