2013 SRT VIPER: Attractive spokeswoman Mary Beth smiles for the camera standing alongside the exotic 2013 SRT Viper. The scene is from the 105th Chicago Auto Show. Mary Beth and the Viper are in the MoPar Garage display, which features a wide array of high performance parts from Chrysler Group's Street and Racing Technology division. Viper for 2013 is a perfect mixture of the classic Viper low-stance, extreme cab-rearward proportions and dramatic fender "gills" blended into the contemporary fifth generation edition of the iconic American supercar. Beneath the all-new forward-hinged carbon-fiber hood is the handcrafted, all-aluminum 8.4 liter, mid-front V-10 overhead-valve engine. The SRT-engineered Viper V-10 pumps-out a massive 640 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque - the most torque of any naturally aspirated sports-car engine in the world. All 2013 Viper models come with a steering-wheel-mounted launch-control switch, allowing for optimal acceleration from standing starts. The Tremec six-speed manual shifter throw is shorter and the transmission has been improved with closer gear ratios and a final drive ratio shortened to 3.55 from 3.07. Consumers receive a one-day driving experience by experts to maximize driving skills to handle this ultra supercar. We're talking low three-seconds 0-to-60 mph; quarter-mile in mid 11-seconds and a top speed of 206 mph. Front and rear Brembo brake systems enable the SRT Viper to stop in just 106 feet from 60-to-0 mph. Carbon-fiber is also used for the decklid and double bubble roof, while door panels are aluminum, resulting in significant weight reduction. For the first time, SRT Viper models carry LED taillights that integrate stop-and-turn illumination in one element. Each lamp carries 50 LEDs that provide a unified "crystallized" illumination effect. There are six exterior color choices offered, plus two new shades: Stryker Red Tri-Coat Pearl and GTS Blue.
