2013 LAMBORGHINI AVENTADOR: Without question, the Lamborghini Aventador is the most sinister-appearing ultra supercar on display during the 2013 Chicago Auto Show. Note how alien the $455,025 Aventador appears when compared to the civilized and utilitarian $16,000 Chevrolet Spark compact cars across the aisle. Comments heard from the crowds are how the Lamborghini Aventador, which is painted in 'Nero Pegaso’ metallic black, is a 21-century Batmobile, or road version of the stealth fighter bomber. Standing a mere 3 feet 9 inches tall, the Aventador is propelled like a missile by its 6.5 liter V-12 powerplant that generates a whopping 700 horsepower and 690 pound-feet of torque. This pinnacle of exotic machinery can be seen under the transparent engine cover, mated with a sophisticated seven-speed automated manual gearbox, all-wheel drive, stability and traction control. Pushed to all four corners are the high-gloss painted alloy rims, 19 inch front and 20 inch rear, with orange brake calipers peeking through split five-spoke design. The wheels are wrapped in high performance tires. Driver and passenger will enter the premium leather upholstered two-seat cockpit, and can access Bluetooth and navigation systems while cruising from coast-to-coast. Constructed of lightweight carbon-fiber material, this roaring Italian masterpiece streaks from 0-to-62 mph in an astounding 2.9 seconds, and easily reaches a top speed of 217 mph. A new Aventador roadster model joins the coupe for 2013. Bottom line is that this is a great year to visit the Lamborghini display, as it's the 50th anniversary of the legendary super sports cars that have been handcrafted with passion and dedication since 1963 in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy.
