2013 BMW 7 SERIES: The 2013 BMW 7 Series again sets new levels in the world of premium automobiles, including upgrades for maximum performance, luxury, and safety. Majority of refinements include significant powertrain improvements for 740i/Li; 750i/Li, 760Li, xDrive and BMW Alpina B7 models. A 315 horsepower 3.0-liter six-cylinder with single twin-scroll turbocharger is standard for the 740i/Li. The 750i/Li is equipped with the 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V-8, which includes BMW’s throttle-less intake system and twin turbochargers to deliver 445 horsepower for a 0-60 time of 4.7 seconds, while consuming significantly less fuel. At the top is the magnificent 760Li with its 6.0L turbo V-12 that releases 535hp. Every 7-Series model is mated to an eight-speed Steptronic automatic transmission, and all benefit from auto start/stop technology which can cut fuel consumption by up to six percent as well as brake energy regeneration. Buyers also have a choice of rear-wheel or xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive configurations. The second generation of the BMW ActiveHybrid 7 uses BMW’s 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine that replaces the previously V-8 engine. Other hybrid components include a 55 hp synchronous electric motor, hybrid-spec eight-speed automatic transmission, a lithium ion high-performance battery and power electronics which run the intelligent energy management.
