2013 SUBARU IMPREZA WRX/WRX STI: Amazing to realize that it was twelve years ago when Subaru first released the Impreza WRX model in the U.S. Continuing for 2013 as one of the most affordable performance cars on the market, the WRX and WRX STI combine a turbocharged/intercooled Subaru horizontally opposed (Boxer) engine with the brand's renowned Symmetrical all-wheel drive; a sport-tuned suspension and 17-inch alloy wheels to deliver exciting yet accessible performance. Model lineup includes the Impreza WRX, WRX Premium, WRX Limited, WRX STI and WRX STI Limited performance packages. Standard on the Impreza WRX trim levels is an intercooled turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine that develops 265 horsepower and comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The WRX STI packages boosts the Boxer engine up to 305hp and is linked with a quick-shifting close-ratio six-speed manual gearbox. A functional hood scoop delivers air to the intercooler, which helps to lower the temperature of the air compressed by the turbocharger, boosting performance. All WRX variants come with Subaru's continuous AWD and a sport-tuned four-wheel fully independent suspension with front and rear stabilizer bars. Taking it up a level, the WRX STI adds high-performance track-tuned suspension, and 18-inch rims and rubber over the 17-inch combo on the standard WRX.
