2012 TOYOTA RAV4 EV: While you’re attending the 2012 Chicago Auto Show, stop by the Toyota exhibit to see and learn more about the next-generation RAV4 EV (electric vehicle). Toyota has teamed with Tesla Motors, Inc. on the development of the 2012 RAVA4 EV, with sales directed at the public as well as fleet and car sharing programs. Tesla’s lithium metal-ion battery and 150 horsepower magnet electric motor powertrain is installed on the Toyota assembly line with the gas-powered RAV4s to maximize production efficiencies and quality control. When fully charged, the RAVA4 EV has an estimated range of 100 miles, 0-to-60 mph in 9.0 seconds and top speed of 100. Visually, the EV differs from the gas-powered models with a new front-fascia that replaces the traditional grille, new LED fog lights and around back, restyled tailgate that deletes the exterior spare-tire carrier. Interiors can be ordered in five- or seven-passenger layouts, with up to 73 cu. ft. of cargo room behind the front seats.
