2013 MINI COOPER COUPE: It was at last year's Chicago Auto Show that crowds were treated to the launch of the Mini Cooper Coupe, garnering new fans to the premium small car segment with it's unapologetic aggressive styled bodywork. Returning to the 105th edition of the Windy City show, the 2013 Mini Cooper Coupe is the first two-seater in the Mini line-up, and it radiates the brand's go-kart feeling with ultra-stiff bodywork, torsional reinforcements and incredibly precise steering. Eye-catching flat silhouette and innovative steel "helmet roof" lend the Mini Coupe a sporty and individual allure. In addition to the integral roof spoiler, an active rear spoiler optimizes airflow at higher speeds. With, it is the fastest-accelerating Mini ever and has the highest top speed. For 2013, the Mini Coupe can be ordered with the most powerful engines in the brand's arsenal. Outputs range from the 121hp of the MINI Cooper Coupe, to MINI Cooper S Coupe (181 hp), all the way up to the Mini John Cooper Works Coupe, a thoroughbred athlete producing 208hp. That model, weighing in at 2,679 pounds offers 0-to-60 mph in 6.1 seconds and posts a top speed of 149 mph. The standard-fitted six-speed manual gearbox sets a new benchmark in the segment with its short shift travel and impressively precise action. There is also a six-speed automatic gearbox with Steptronic function. With a pass-through cargo area to the truck, there's 9.8 cubic feet of room for all types of weekend gear. There is a total of nine exterior paint colors, and the car's roof is finished in contrasting hues, including Pure Silver and Chili Red. Model-specific Sport stripes are available as an option.
