2013 BMW ACTIVEHYBRID 5: On display at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show is the all new BMW ActiveHybrid 5. This forward-looking sedan features a drive system that merges a BMW TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder in-line engine, and a synchronous electric motor integrated into the housing of the eight-speed automatic gearbox, saving space. With a combined output of 340 horsepower, the ActiveHybrid 5 can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 5.9 seconds and be driven on electric power alone for zero emissions up to 37 mph. Examples of the latest technological wonders offered on the ActiveHybrid 5, include a hybrid start-stop function, Night Vision with pedestrian recognition, Head-Up Display, and Lane Change and Lane Departure Warning systems. Enhancement to the luxurious five-passenger cabin comfort add in a 4-zone automatic climate control, active seat ventilation, Smart Opener for the tailgate, Soft Close Automatic function for the doors, a power-operated glass roof and high-end audio infotainment and rear entertainment systems. The “ActiveHybrid 5” lettering on the C-pillars, BMW kidney grille with galvanized slats and exhaust matt chrome tailpipes set the exterior apart from the other models in the range. Available as an option, are 18-inch Streamline light-alloy wheels displaying exceptional aerodynamic efficiency.
