LEXUS LF-LC CONCEPT: A rare automotive phenomenon is taking place in the Lexus exhibit during the 2013 Chicago Auto Show. It's the return engagement of the fabulous Lexus LF-LC Concept hybrid that was voted the "Best Concept" by the public at the 2012 Windy City auto show. Actually, this is a sister car finished in Opal Blue, while the sibling seen last year was painted in a deep red hue. Pictured is lovely Shauna, knowledgeable Lexus spokeswoman, who told the crowds that the "LF" designation refers to Lexus Future. Both this and last year's versions were created by Lexus' Calty design studio in California, and engineered to combine a front-engine, rear-wheel drive sports coupe with an advanced Lexus Hybrid Drive. This setup produces 500 horsepower to match the curvaceous and powerful silhouette, providing both hype performance and fuel efficiency. The LF-LC wears the signature Lexus spindle grille, and taillights, inspired by the look of a jet afterburner at take-off that create a remarkable sense of depth. Daytime running lights are shaped like an "L" while the vertical fog lamps utilize a fading dot matrix pattern to suggest a sense of movement. Overhead, a glass roof features a lightweight, cantilevered pillar with a glass-to-glass juncture inspired by modern architecture. The prototype interior of the LF-LC expresses a feeling of both openness and security, with the driver enveloped by deeply scooped side panels and a high, arched console.
