2013 Scion FR-S:
A big draw to the Scion exhibit during the 2013 Chicago Auto Show is sure to be the 2013 Scion FR-S sports coupe. Scion explains that the letters 'FR-S' stand for Front-engine, Rear-wheel drive, and Sport. It's Scion's definition of an authentic rear-wheel drive sports car. Pop the hood, and examine the 2.0-liter, naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine that is the result of a joint development between Toyota and Subaru. The flat-four creates a 12.5:1 compression ratio, as well as an impressive 200 horsepower and mated to either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The FR-S's low weight (2,758 with manual to 2,806 pounds with automatic) is complimented by a dynamically tuned suspension setup. The fierce exterior of the FR-S is remarkably sleek and low, with a menacing face, aggressive sporty dual exhaust system and LEDs illuminate the edgy taillights. Opening the door reveals a low and comfortable 2+2 passenger cockpit, displaying a large center-mounted tachometer, the focus of the three-gauge cluster. The compact FR-S is Scion's new halo car, expanding the brand into a new dimension of driving performance. Big decision when purchasing an FR-S is which one of the seven exterior paint colors to select from, including Raven, Asphalt, Hot Lava, Argento, Ultramarine, Firestorm and Whiteout.
