Toyota Gives Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle to Local Disabled Army VeteranToyota Rampvan

One week from today, National Mobility Awareness Month Local Heroes winner Ron Miner of Frankfort will receive the keys to his new wheelchair accessible vehicle – a 2012 Toyota Sienna BraunAbility Rampvan – to further empower his active lifestyle.

Launched in May, the National Mobility Awareness Month is an annual celebration that encourages people with disabilities to enjoy more active, mobile lifestyles. As means of entering the Local Heroes contest, Miner shared his story of triumph as he won the Wheelchair Bodybuilding World Championship. A disabled Army veteran, the Wheelchair Bodybuilding World Championship was the turning point for Miner when he realized he was "no longer the fat man in a wheelchair with no hope, no future, and poor health." He now views himself as a role model for those with and without disabilities.

The official vehicle unveiling and celebration will be held at Continental Toyota in Hodgkins next Friday, August 24 at 10:30 a.m. For more information about the program, please visit their website. Big kudos to Toyota for supporting initiatives such as this!

This man embodies hope and perseverance. From what I read about him, he deserves this van and will use it to further help and teach others with similar disabilities.
