Chicago Auto Show - 1909
Concept Cars

A symbol that represented the Chicago Auto Show during the early years was Hermes, (aka Mercury), seen as a decorative glass window display at the 1909 event. Featured behind a steering wheel, and wearing his winged hat, Hermes is the mythical god of trade, profit and commerce, as well as the messenger of Zeus. The show was held at the Coliseum and the First Regiment Armory, with 278 exhibitors displaying 92 different automobile brands. Nineteen motorcycle makes were also exhibited.
