Lovely Kristi, spokesmodel for Street and Racing Technology (SRT) brand introduced new Stryker Green exterior color for the fifth generation SRT Viper Coupe at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show. Ultra performance came from the all-aluminum, 8.4-liter mid-front V-10 engine that pumped-out 640 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque. All ‘14 Vipers came with a steering-wheel-mounted launch-control switch, allowing for optimal acceleration from standing starts. The Tremec six-speed manual shifter throw was abbreviated with closer gear ratios and the final drive ratio shortened to 3.55 from 3.07. The powertrain made it possible for low three-seconds from 0-to-60 mph and quarter-mile races in mid 11-seconds. On sanction tracks, a stock Viper can reached a top speed of 206 mph. Backing up all that muscle was standard electronic multistage stability control, traction control and front/rear Brembo four-channel anti-lock brake system. The SRT Viper stopped in just 106 feet from 60-to-0 mph.

A destination for most who attended the 2014 Chicago Auto Show was the display featuring the bright yellow 2015 Corvette Z06. As one of America's supercars, the latest Z06 became the most capable, world-class Corvette model, ever. This was the first Corvette Z06 to offer a supercharged engine, and thanks to a stronger aluminum frame, a removable roof panel. The heart of the 2015 Corvette Z06 was the all-new LT4 6.2L supercharged V-8 engine that delivered an estimated 625 horsepower and massive 635 lb-ft of torque to the rear-wheel drive. Standard seven-speed manual transmission included the Active Rev Match feature, or there was an all-new eight-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission designed to enhance both performance and MPGs. The 2015 Corvette Z06 with the available Z07 package added a larger winglets to the carbon front splitter, along with an adjustable, see-through center section on the rear spoiler for track use; with this package, the Corvette Z06 delivered the most amount of aerodynamic downforce of any production car that GM has tested.

Eye-catching spokesmodel Shannon was ready to inform the crowds attending the 2014 Chicago Auto Show about the all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 – billed as the new “face of Chrysler.” Stylish grille and headlamps were integrated for the first time along with the revised Chrysler badge and its more defined wing. The signature light pipe or available full-LED daytime running lamps (DRL), LED fog lamps and standard LED taillamps gave the Chrysler 200 a distinctive look. Grabbing headlines was that the Chrysler 200 became the industry’s first mid-size sedan with a standard nine-speed automatic transmission, which was expected to boost fuel economy ratings of 35 mph. On top of that, the 200 sedan was available with an all-wheel drive system and automatic fully disconnecting rear axle. The 200 offered buyers a choice of two world-class engines: the 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 that produced 295 horsepower, or the standard 184hp 2.4L MultiAir2 Tigershark I-4 engine. Eight exterior shades, including Vivid Blue and Velvet Red Pearl Coat were offered. In 2014 North America, the new 200 competed in the mid-size sedan segment, which was roughly one of every six new vehicles sold in the U.S.

On display during the 106th Edition Chicago Auto Show was the fastest factory-produced Camaro ever on a track – the 2014 Camaro Z/28. The naturally aspirated Z/28 weighed 300 pounds less than the supercharged Camaro ZL1, with changes ranging from lightweight wheels to thinner rear-window glass. Performance started with the 7.0L LS7 engine, rated at an SAE-certified 505 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque. On display during the 106th edition of the Chicago Auto Show (Feb.8-17, 2014) was the e-Golf, Volkswagen’s first fully electric vehicle for the U.S. The new model was available in five-door form only and was immediately recognizable by its unique aluminum-alloy wheels, LED headlights and C-shaped LED daytime running lights. Another striking feature was the colored strip across the radiator grille that consciously aligned the e-Golf with Volkswagen’s Think Blue sustainability campaign. The e-Golf was powered by a 115-horsepower electric motor. From a standing start the EEM-85 synchronous permanent-magnet AC motor developed an impressive 199 pound-feet of torque, allowing the e-Golf to reach 25 mph from rest in 4.2 seconds and to get to 62 mph in approximately 10.4 seconds. Top speed was electronically limited to 87 mph. The high-performance 12,000-rpm motor and the single-speed EQ270 transmission were developed in-house and formed a compact unit. VW was able to integrate the lithium-ion battery in a space-saving frame in the vehicle floor, under the front and rear seats and in the center tunnel.
