| What is the most convenient way to travel to the show? | |
Depends where your trip originates! While there's ample parking around McCormick Place, we always encourage the use of public transportation, especially on the weekends. |
| Transportation and the closest hotels. | |
The Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, at 2233 S. Martin Luther King Dr., adjoins the convention center facility. For room rates and availability, call the hotel at 312-567-1234. The auto show has secured favorable room rates of $115 a night at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers, a few miles north of McCormick Place. For more on the hotel, click on About the Show, the leftmost category along the bar at the top of the homepage's screen, then follow the drop-down menu to Official Hotel. To get the rate, be certain to mention the Chicago Auto Show when making your reservation. |
| if i was coming to the autoshow by train what train should i take? cta blue line or cta green line or should i take metra? | |
The Metra Electric Line stops at McCormick Place. For a thorough list of the various Metra lines and their schedules, go to www.metrarail.com. |
| To use the shuttle bus from the Millennium Park garage, do I have to actually park at that location and show some type of receipt to get on the bus? We will be staying at a hotel near Millennium Park and could easily walk over to catch the shuttle bus, though we may not actually park our car at Millennium Park if the hotel offers free (or discounted) parking on the weekend. | |
Signs at the Millenimum Park garage entrances indicate where the shuttles pick up and drop off showgoers. If you can get there, the driver won't ask you to confirm you parked there. |
| You mentioned that the hotels that you secured are a few miles from the venue. Is it "preferable" to stay at a hotel that is a few miles away, versus a closer hotel? I would rather rely on transportation to & from the show, than to get there & find my hotel is in a less desirable location. Thank you | |
"Preferences" are an individual thing. But if you have no transportation to the hotels about three miles north of McCormick Place, then it makes sense to select the Hyatt-McCormick Place, which adjoins the convention center. The auto show has arranged for free shuttle service between the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers and McCormick Place each day of the auto show. Buses run about every 15 minutes from 8-11 a.m. and again from 9-11 p.m. |
| What is the charge for parking in Lot A during the show? Should parking be available in Lot A on Friday a.m.? Thanks | |
Parking in Lot A, the multilevel garage at Cermak Road and Martin Luther King Drive, costs $19 for 12 hours, according to Standard Parking, which owns and operates all the lots surrounding McCormick Place. Demand varies, and availability is subject to when you reach the lot. If it is full, traffic cops will direct you to another lot. |
| How often does the shuttle from the Millenium Park Underground Garage run on Sunday, Feb. 14? Also, what time does the shuttle start that morning? | |
At peak hours, 12 buses serve the route between Millenium Park and McCormick Place, delivering riders to Gate 2 at the show. Waits should not exceed 15 minutes, unless traffic surrounding McCormick Place slows things down. |
| I am flying in to see the show. Are there shuttles from Ohare that would go to McCormicks Place and about how much would a taxi cost from Ohare to Mccormick place? | |
There are no shuttles dedicated to run between O'Hare and McCormick Place. The airport is about 22 miles from the convention center, so a taxi fare would be about $42 plus tip. If I were you, I would board the Chicago Transit Authority's Blue Line at the airport and ride that for $2.25 to the Loop (the city's downtown business district), then take an approximate $12 cab ride from there to McCormick Place. |
| I was wondering if i would be able to access the shuttle from Millineum parking Garage, if i dont park my car there? Is there a Fee? how much? | |
| When you reach the parking garage, you'll see signs that direct you to where the free shuttles pick up to deliver you to McCormick Place. Driver won't ask you where you parked. Remember, the free shuttle from Millenium Park operates on WEEKENDS only. |
| We're coming to the show on the South Shore. Where will our stop be and will there be much walking and/or any shuttles, buses to take after getting off the South Shore.. | |
All details this site could offer you about traveling to the show via Metra are examined in Metra's own Web site, www.metrarail.com/ The stop at McCormick Place deposits travelers at the Grand Concourse, steps from the entrances to the Chicago Auto Show. Please visit that site for schedules and any other concerns. |
