Expanding the Wow Factor

Posted by: Trisha Deehring

I’ll be the first to admit I’m not the most avid truck driver, but after seeing the presentation from Ram, I’ve learned a few things.  One, I never want to play chicken with a Ram. Two, splashed across a 100 or so foot screen, those things are absolutely terrifying.  And three, they get more terrifying as they start driving towards you. Fear aside, the Ram trucks debuted at the Chicago Auto Show were impressive, to say the least.

President and CEO Fred Diaz introduced the first truck, the Ram 1500 Tradesman, as the truck that targets the need of small businesses-"the hardworking truck for hardworking people." The Tradesman aims to provide individuals with a better performance for the same price of other work trucks. This wasn’t the intimidating one though. The truck to beat was the new 2011 Ram 3500 HD. As it pulled across the stage, onlookers had the opportunity- or the inevitability- to take in the sheer size of the truck. Diaz’s announcement that they were "expanding the wow factor," was quite an understatement. With the ability to tow a whopping 22,700 pounds, it boasts the most powerful exhaust break in its class.  After all, driving up hill is one thing; going down it is another entirely. Getting behind the wheel of one of these monsters may just be the stress relief we all need at the end of the work week!
