start from thebeginning

First staged in 1901, the Chicago Auto Show is the largest auto show in North America and has been held more times than any other auto exposition on the continent. This year marks the 117th edition of the Chicago Auto Show.

Chrysler’s dream machine for 2008, the ecoVoyager, married an elegant American design with fuel cell range-extended electric vehicle technology. The wheels were driven by an electric motor, with power supplied by a lithium-ion battery pack. Developing 200 kilowatts (268 horsepower), the front wheel drive ecoVoyager accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in less than eight seconds, and had an all-electric powered range of 40 miles. With hydrogen fuel cell range extender, the vehicle could travel up to 300 miles. The exterior was painted “Polar Ice,” and the prototype rolled on mammoth 30-inch wheels and special Goodyear rubber. Innovative roof housed two longitudinal skylights that contained the “Direct Sound” function. With this feature, musical entertainment choices could be directed to each individual occupant without the use of headphones, and without disturbing others in the car.
