Chicagoland Dealers Care: Chicago Automobile Trade Association Donates $1,500 in addition to D’Arcy Buick GMC’s $5,000 Contribution to the MIND Research Institute
The Chicago Automobile Trade Association (CATA), Chicagoland's new-car dealer association, donated $1,500 to support the MIND Research Institute, a charitable group important to D'Arcy Buick GMC of Joliet, Ill. The dealership has already contributed $5,000 to support MIND Research Institute that will host the Math Fair at Navy Pier, a free event for families that aims to excite young minds as they interact with mathematically-themed activities and exhibits, on Sept. 26.
MIND Research Institute is a social benefit organization dedicated to ensuring all students are mathematically equipped to solve the world's most challenging problems. MIND aims to solve the math crisis in America by closing the achievement gap through its ST Math programs in the classroom and its MathMINDs programs, like the Math Fair, outside the classroom.
Charities and civic organizations know that Chicagoland new-car dealers are an integral part of their communities and are often deeply involved in charitable causes. However, dealers rarely receive the recognition they deserve for their ongoing efforts.
"The CATA designed the Chicagoland Dealers Care program to spotlight the charitable efforts that local new-car dealers already support within their communities, and to deliver additional financial support and advocacy to these organizations," said CATA Chairman Mike McGrath Jr.
According to Elizabeth Garrow, philanthropic partnerships director for the MIND Research Institute, it's because of the support from D'Arcy Motors and the CATA that they expect more than 5,000 students and their families to attend the Math Fair at Navy Pier.
"Terry D'Arcy [owner of D'Arcy Buick GMC] and his family have been committed to communities and organizations throughout Will County for decades," said Garrow. "What is amazing about Terry is his ability to see where the needs are, connect the dots and quietly make things happen. He and D'Arcy Motors have personally volunteered their time, resources and talents to countless individuals and organizations. Terry leads by example."
The CATA has been a longtime supporter of local non-profit organizations. Since 1992, the association has raised $42 million for significant Chicago charities during the annual First Look for Charity black-tie event, held the evening before the Chicago Auto Show opens to the public.
