Chicago Auto Show Video Award Rules & Regulations
The 2013 Chicago Auto Show Video Achievement Award is an educational opportunity for students to create a short and promotional video that encompass the events and excitement of the 2013 Chicago Auto Show. All entries must be submitted by 3 PM Central Standard Time on Tuesday, February 12th, 2013. Prizes will be awarded to the team that scores highest based on the video's performance in each of the judging categories, according to the Official Rules below.
1. Eligibility
The video opportunity is open only to legal residents of the United States who are eighteen years or older at time of registration. Employees and interns of the Chicago Automobile Trade Association (CATA) and Vivid Ascent, and their immediate families are not eligible to participate. Participants must be enrolled as a student at a University, College or Educational Institution.
2. Participation
This is a challenge to showcase your skills in producing a video showcasing the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, working in production teams and working under a tight deadline. Submitted Videos that meet the minimum standards will be judged by a panel of executives from the Chicago Automobile Trade Association and Vivid Ascent, selected by in its sole discretion, according to the criteria below. It is not necessary for you to pay any fee to participate in this video opportunity.
a. How to Participate
To enter, teams made up of 2-4 students must register on the 2013 Chicago Auto Show Video Achievement Award webpage. The team must attend the 2013 Chicago Auto Show Social Media Preview on Friday, February 8th 2013 to receive credentials to access the show floor. Students will be allowed to return for filming throughout the first weekend of the public show (February 9th-February 10th, 2013) The Chicago Auto Show will not provide video or editing equipment.
Completed videos must be uploaded to the FTP site, along with team name. Submitted personal information will be treated according to Chicago Automobile Trade Association's privacy policy.
Videos that meet the qualifications and selected as outlined in these Official Rules will be posted to the Chicago Auto Show YouTube Channel and on the official website. Participants should share the link to their video to encourage their networks to like the video. Views and Like counts will not be judged based on total count, but overall promotion of the video will be taken into consideration when judging.
b. Minimum Standards
As a condition of entry, you agree that the Chicago Automobile Trade Association shall have the non-exclusive worldwide right, but not the obligation, to use, copy, modify and make available the Video, including, but not limited to the right to make the Video, and/or screenshots and video clips available on our website and social media sites for promotional and publicity purposes. You agree to license the Video pursuant to the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License. Notwithstanding the foregoing licenses, ownership of all intellectual property rights in and to the Video shall remain yours.
By submitting a Video, you certify that your Video is original and that you are the sole and exclusive owner and right holder of the original content. You further certify that any third-party material in the Video is properly licensed (such as pursuant to a Creative Commons license) or allowed by law (such as fair use), and that you have the right to submit the Entry in this opportunity. You agree not to submit any Video that (1) infringes any third party proprietary, intellectual property, or other rights, including without limitation, copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret or confidentiality obligation; or (2) otherwise violates applicable law in any countries in the world. You certify that you have obtained all necessary consents from any persons who appear or are referred to in the Video. (Consent forms can downloaded for use)
Format: the Video must be approximately four to five minutes in length, in English, and contain clear and intelligible video and non-copyrighted audio or music clips. Seventy-five percent of the video much use content that was filmed on the show floor. Video files may be uploaded in the following file types: .mp4, .mov
Accuracy: the Video must accurately showcase the 2013 Chicago Auto Show. Any video that provides inaccurate information, as determined by CATA at its sole discretion, will be disqualified.
Be Respectful. All contestants must participate fairly, honorably and in a manner that reflects well on the participants, the school and the Chicago Auto Show, as determined in EFF's sole discretion. Entries that are lewd, obscene, pornographic, or otherwise contain objectionable material may be disqualified in CATA's sole discretion. Participating teams will also be disqualified for unlawful or illegal content.
2. Judging
Videos will be judged by the panel of executives from CATA and Vivid Ascent on the following categories:
- Accuracy and clarity in showcasing the 2013 Chicago Auto Show
- Entertainment value of video and creative use of the 2013 Chicago Auto Show floor and exhibits
- Use of on-camera talent to give background or insight into the 2013 show
- Social sharing. Participants will be judged on their own promotion of their video through their social networks and online.
3. Prizes
Prizes will be awarded to the team selected to receive the Video Achievement Award. The prizes for the winning team include (1) A custom 2013 Chicago Auto Show Video Achievement plaque for display at the winning team's school or educational institution (2) Video will be played throughout the course of the 2013 public show on the show floor. Prizes for individual team members on the winning team include (1) Four tickets to the 2013 Chicago Auto Show (2) A $100 gift card for Lettuce Entertain You
The selected team will be contacted via e-mail. No substitute prizes are available. However, CATA may, at its discretion, substitute prizes of equal or greater value.
4. Disclaimer
By participating in this video opportunity, you agree to release CATA and its employees, directors, officers, fellows, interns from any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership, possession, use, or misuse of any prize or during the participation of this video opportunity. You acknowledge and agree that CATA et al is not responsible for technical, hardware or software failures, or other errors or problems which may occur in connection with participation, whether computer, network, technical, mechanical, typographical, printing, human or otherwise, including, without limitation, errors or problems which may occur in connection with the administration of the opportunity, the announcement of the prizes, in any award-related materials. CATA reserves the right to amend these official rules and to permanently disqualify from the opportunity, any person it believes has intentionally violated these official rules.
5. Jurisdiction
All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply; void where prohibited. Issues concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules shall be governed by the laws of the State of Illinois.
6. Miscellaneous
All decisions of CATA regarding this video opportunity are final and binding in all respects.
By participating in the 2013 Chicago Auto Show Video Achievement Award opportunity, you acknowledge and agree to the set forth rules and guidelines as stated above.
