Toyota Driving Course 350In an effort to reduce the rate of fatalities and crashes among teen drivers, Toyota is hosting a complimentary safe driving program – "On the Road" Toyota Driving Expectations – for newly licensed or permitted teens and their parents at Soldier Field on October 20-21. Local teens and parents will experience real-world simulated driving distractions such as talking and texting, listening to loud music and drinking water.

"On the Road" Toyota Driving Expectations offers a series of programs designed to empower and educate teens and parents about driving and road safety. Toyota established the complimentary safe teen driving program in 2004 to supplement standard driving education courses. These courses are influential in teaching teens about defensive driving, the impact of distractions and safe habits – all in real-time.

The "On the Road" course at Soldier Field will last roughly 2 ½ hours and will involve both driving time and classroom discussions. Class times for next weekend are as follows:

Saturday, Oct. 20:

  • 8 a.m.
  • 9:30 a.m.
  • 11 a.m.
  • 1:30 p.m.
  • 3 p.m.

Sunday, Oct. 21:

  • 9:30 a.m.
  • 11 a.m.
  • 1:30 p.m.
  • 3 p.m.

Interested participants must have a driver’s license or learner’s permit and should pre-register online at www.toyotadrivingexpectations.com.

Can’t make either class? Be sure to check out www.toyotateendriver.com where educators, teens and parents can find tools, resources and competition information (including a video challenge where the grand prize winner will take home $15,000!).
