Well, the Social Media Preview began here at the Chicago Auto Show this lovely Thursday morning. I got a chance to take a very long stroll on the show room floors. There are an inordinate amount of magnificent cars to be seen! Special guests have been invited today to feed the frenzy of social media about the showroom floor! I have never seen so many people on Twitter and Facebook in my life! Buzz is generating around here left and right about all the new models, contests, giveaways, test drives, charitable work and much more! Watch your news feed and keep up with the latest from the Chicago Auto Show.
The guests love the displays of these vehicles! A few of my favorites are Jeep, Toyota, Hyundai and Volkswagen.
Volkswagen gave an up-close look at one of my fellow interns personal favorites, the Jetta GLI. She cannot stop talking about it and is in love with its Fender audio system. Check out Justine Harris’ blog regarding Volkswagen to find out more about the Jetta GLI.
Jeep has integrated a real-world feel onto the showroom floor bringing in actual dirt and greenery to create a lifelike scenario of a Jeep out in its "natural habitat." Two jeeps are prominently displayed up on large steel teeter-totter props.
Toyota has similarly created an everyday scenario for their utility vehicles. There is a large construction site they have strategically composed to resemble what one would see driving down the road. This is a great way for people to visualize these vehicles in an actual setting rather than just shiny and new with a sparkling background. Also, Toyota was proud to show off their new Prius family of vehicles.
Hyundai is doing substantial things here at the auto show as well. One of their white SUVs is covered in kids painted handprints promoting their "Hyundai Hope on Wheels" campaign to help raise money for children who have cancer. You can also sign up for the chance to win a free Hyundai vehicle when you visit their display! I may or may not have done that myself. Hint: I did. J
