President and CEO of Hyundai, John Krafcik addressed the media yesterday at the Hyundai press conference. Joining Krafcik at the conference in celebration of their 25 years in the United Sates were Vice President, Mike O’Brien, professional racecar driver, Rhys Millen and on the front row sat motocross professional, Robbie Maddison.
Hyundai is taking the motor sports world by the reigns this year. Professional racers Rhys Millen and Marcus Dodd can be seen racing the Hyundai Veloster this summer in the X Games. Rhys actually drove out on stage in his car and spoke to the audience sharing his experience and expressing his love for the Hyundai automobiles.
Once Millen exited the stage, the spotlight went to Vice President, Mike O’Brien. He shared many Hyundai success factors including their third consecutive year winning the Ward’s Engine Award for their most powerful engine yet; the V-8 and their increase in sales by 58% over that past year, to name a couple.
O’Brien concluded the conference with the revelation of the brand new 2012 Genesis 5.0 R-Spec. As soon as those covers came off the cameras came up. The media went nuts over this beauty! I might have overheard one person say, "If BMW and Mercedes were worried last year, they are going to soil themselves this year!"
I personally have never thought much of Hyundai. I usually completely disregarded them in my choice in car purchasing. I did not negate them from my mind because I heard anything negative, but because one of my faults as a human being is purchasing things strictly for the name. Luxury, sleek, and classy never came to mind, but now I will definitely add Hyundai to my list.
So watch out for Hyundai this upcoming year. They are on a roll! Be sure to check out their Genesis, Veloster and their Sonata, which was rated with the highest owner’s satisfaction as of January 2011.
