5 Olympic Rings and 5 Star Cars

What do BMW and the Olympics have in common? Bobsleds, of course!

BMW is a sponsor at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. The automotive company formed a new partnership with the U.S. Olympic Bobsled team in order to create the fastest sled out there. BMW felt that they could really have an impact on the safety and performance of the sled.

Michael Scully, creative director at BMW Group's DesignWorksUSA in California, took the lead in the design of the new bobsled. “This has to be a tool for our athletes, there is a deeper level of meaning of partnership between the brand and team,” Scully says in a short film clip displayed by BMW.

The sled is the perfect mix of efficiency, precision, speed and acceleration. “The U.S. team is really excited to try it out,” says a source in the film. Be sure to swing by the BMW exhibit at The Chicago Auto Show and to tune in on NBC to watch team USA compete for the gold!
