2017 Chicago Auto Show Now Open to the Public

The 2017 Chicago Auto Show is officially underway. The 109th edition of the largest automotive exhibition in North America is officially open to the public through Monday, Feb. 20 at McCormick Place. Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White and Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle joined 2017 Chicago Auto Show Chairman Mike McGrath and General Manager Dave Sloan on stage to cut the ribbon to open the show.

Hundreds gathered for the ribbon cutting ceremony, which featured the Color Guard from the 9th Marine Corps District, stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base, and the National Anthem by musician Natalie Cochran.

"It's a great day for the state of Illinois," Governor Rauner told the crowd. "Welcome to the biggest, the best, and the greatest auto show in North America. We're here to celebrate the best cars from around the world right here in Chicago."

Mayor Emanuel discussed the show's history as well as the important role the automotive industry plays in the City of Chicago.

"I want to congratulate the auto industry on 109 years of successful shows here in Chicago," said Mayor Emanuel. "As you know, we have a Ford plant on the south side. They make the Explorer there and export it to more countries than any other Ford plant in the United States."
